1. Acceptance of terms

By installing, loading, or using the Codex Advisor plugin ("the Software"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.

2. Open-source license and maintainer identity

The Software is distributed as open-source software under the MIT License.

Where these Terms and the MIT License conflict, the MIT License governs your rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and sell copies of the Software.

3. Nature of the Software and advisory disclaimers

Advisory and non-authoritative output

  • Codex Advisor is a skills-only, local consultation plugin that provides non-authoritative second opinions on software architecture, interface design, data modeling, and diagnostics.
  • Its recommendations are advisory evidence only. The root agent and the end user retain sole authority and responsibility for all architectural, implementation, testing, verification, deployment, and security decisions.
  • Output does not constitute professional engineering certification, a security audit guarantee, legal or compliance advice, or an architectural warranty.

Local execution boundary

  • The Software runs locally within your Codex installation, with no hosted service and no MCP server.
  • The Software does not guarantee automatic routing, automatic provisioning, or error-free consultation.

4. Prerequisites and your responsibilities

  • Host prerequisites. You are solely responsible for providing and maintaining the required local host prerequisites, including a supported host (Codex CLI or Codex desktop), a POSIX shell, jq, and the appropriate execution permissions.
  • Model availability. Execution uses the models and effort configured in the bundled advisor.toml. Automatic Standard remains Terra/high for ordinary bounded decisions; automatic Specialist remains Sol/high only when targeted evidence leaves an eligible decision unresolved. The separate advisor-astra role is explicit-only, uses Astra/high, and is never selected automatically. You are responsible for model availability, all OpenAI usage, quotas, and fees on your account.
  • Configuration changes. You may edit the bundled configuration in place, but a plugin update or reinstall may replace those edits.
  • Data protection. You are responsible for ensuring that credentials, confidential keys, and unauthorized proprietary data are not included in consultation packets.

5. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. THE AUTHORS, MAINTAINERS, AND COPYRIGHT HOLDERS DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

6. Limitation of liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS, MAINTAINERS, ZERO DELTA LLC, OR COPYRIGHT HOLDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING LOSS OF USE, DATA, PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR PROCUREMENT OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS OR SERVICES) ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SOFTWARE, ITS OUTPUT, OR THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE SOFTWARE, UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY.

7. Modifications and termination

The maintainers may modify these Terms by posting an updated version on this page. Continued use of the Software constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

8. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
